GREAME HICK PAVILION

WORCESTER

Client: Worcestershire County Cricket Club
Completed: 2009
Contract Value: £1,500,000
Contractor: Speller Metcalfe Ltd

The Graeme Hick Pavilion was the first phase of a planned redevelopment at the New Road ground and replaces the historic Member’s Pavilion, which, after 130 years of regular flooding needed replacing. The Member’s Pavilion was  carefully dismantled at the start of the project and salient features retained in safe storage to be re-erected/created in a later phase of the development.

The stepped entrance to the building is located by the south west access to the site off New Road. As visitors ascend the steps to the new ground floor, the view across the cricket ground to the Cathedral comes into view through the double-height glazed entranceway and the glazed Member’s lounge beyond.

The pavilion was opened on 30th May 2009 by Graeme Hick with a speech by Dr Mervyn King the Governor of the Bank of England and a game of 20/20 cricket.
